intentional choice that takes work Yet, this is a most important work
that will serve to keep your family healthy and stable Here are ten tips

Tips for Working with Authors

Provide a set of instructions to authors google the term and youll find
lots of examples; good one, although probably more than most of us would
need, is wwwblackwellpublishingcom/authors/ Generally, instructions
to authors should include:

Types of articles accepted

How to submit articles, including guidelines for submitting text and
graphics electronically, file formats accepted, etc
Which stylebook to follow? CSE, AP, Chicago?

Provide in-house stylesheet for frequent authors Web-based is handy and
can be updated easily; the one I use is wwwisa-
arborcom/publications/stylesheethtml In-house stylesheets cover
company-specific information that is not included in stylebooks such as
The Chicago Manual of Style For example, technical terms, industry
jargon

When editing a manuscript, make your queries to the author helpful not
critical or unclear:

Good: On page 243, third paragraph, the text says ˜Blah blahbly blah
This could be interpreted one of two ways: do you mean that

Bill Colbys Tips for Successful Event Planning
bcolby25@aolcom

So, you want people to gather together, voluntarily, to talk about
dying and death And if Im your speaker, you want them to listen to a
lawyer leading that talk? Hmmm Did I see you at Woodstock?

I joke or try to joke In reality, these events can be huge
successes Over the last three years speaking across the country, Ive
seen it happen Ive also seen events that did not work so I wanted to
look back and figure out the key traits of events that worked I looked at
a wide range of events “ morning/noon/evening, hospital setting or
community hall, food or no food, small town or city, half-day seminar or
single speaker

The conclusions are hardly earthshaking and mostly common sense, but
hopefully theyre useful Successful events shared these five traits:

The planning started months in advance
The event committee was headed up by a person passionate about and
committed to building a big crowd
The event committee was large and often included members from groups
you wouldnt ordinarily think about for an end-of-life program
The committee

BEING SINGLE ON VALENTINES DAY: A SURVIVAL GUIDE

Valentines Day “ a day of exchanging flowers, cards, and loving
sentiments punctuated with warm feelings of admiration, affection, and
infatuation But for millions of Americans, there is one thing preventing
them from participating in these celebratory acts of love

A date

Being dateless on Valentines Day can evoke feelings of loneliness and
self-doubt, especially for those who are believers in the mythology of true
love Embedded in the frigid season of winter, it is portrayed in the
media, particularly in relentless flower, fragrance, and jewelry
advertising, as the singular day a year set aside for love, romance, and
passion But what is someone to do when he or she is feeling the cold
blues of being single instead of embracing the hot red of love?

Dr Laura S Brown, professor of psychology at Argosy
University/Seattle, offers tips on how single guys and gals can celebrate
Cupids Day, instead of being defeated by it Love is not about a
particular day, or about cards, flowers, or even being in a relationship
